What to expect

In a lesson

As a new driver your road to passing the practical test is, for some, an arduous one, for others it's a breeze. We will find what works for you and go with the flow, tailoring the learning journey to your requirements. Using a range of well proven coaching and instruction techniques we will ensure the experience is fun and above all as safe as possible. A lot of the hard yards are gained in the first few lessons. We will work on building a solid base of routines to really cement the understanding of what it is to be a safe driver for life. As your confidence and experience grows the level of instruction lessens and independence takes over. Working towards your test day we will smooth off any development areas and focus on what's involved on the day.

Content

The time we spend with wheels rolling is entirely dependent on the work you put into study and the subject complexity. Get the basics right and all the rest falls into place. One subject leads onto another to help join it all up and turn you into a safe, confident driver, for life.

The Journey

The journey to get to being a safe driver for life is variable. There will be good days and bad. The areas needing development can be worked on throughout the journey. It's finding the way to the light switch that triggers that lightbulb moment.  Your instructor will constantly monitor your actions to identify the development needs and work to flip the light switch of understanding.

Theory Test

You'll need this vital pass before the practical can be booked. Don't just wing it, this is the foundation block of the practical test. Put in the hard yards on the books and apps, don't rely on the online content, read a book! A sound knowledge of the rules and regulations keeps you and everyone else on the road safe. We should all be playing by the same rules. See the links page for the recommended reading.

Ready

When will I be able to take my test? The million-dollar question and probably the most common FAQ of them all. With waiting times for tests currently extended the temptation is to book it and hope for the best. Really? Failing is very easy to do. Why would you want to risk the wait and expense by taking a chance. We'll both know when the time is right. Let's get it done right, first time! We'll conduct mock tests to get you familiar with the structure, the terminology and techniques to deal with the stress of the day. Once you've shown you can use the tools and know the rules the actual test will be straightforward. Obviously there's nothing guaranteed,  no one can help you on test, you have the skills and the tools to handle any situation that arises.

Share the big news

After you've passed, we'll get you home with a smile on your face and a valuable life skill in your pocket. Share the good news and if course if you've enjoyed the journey please share us with your friends! We offer post-test instruction to experience motorways or  advanced driving tuition.
